Hi there, everyone! Today, I have decided to talk about seed cycling. It is a growing trend which is claimed to balance hormones. A human body undergoes different changes through a lifetime; hence it unsurprisingly experiences one or two periods of hormonal imbalance on an average. If one has been there, you would know how much it affects various functions of your body. In case you didn’t know, causes and symptoms are many. Nevertheless, they differ from person to person.

Disclaimer: I am not a medical expert. Hence, all I share is my ample knowledge of what I believe is helpful. Though there is no scientifically-proven evidence on it, this method has awed a lot of people (including myself). There are no side-effects of seed cycling if it does not work out in any case. However, you first need to address the driving force (lifestyle you lead) of that underlying condition. In other words, adopt healthy habits and consider uplifting your way of life before anything else.

What is seed cycling?
It is a practice of eating specific seeds during two main phases (follicular and luteal) of your menstrual cycle. It helps to promote a healthy balance of estrogen and progesterone (two main sex hormones) levels.
What are its benefits?
This nature’s goodness is used to advantages one against polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), premenstrual syndrome (PMS), menopause, acne, and generally, enhance the overall well-being of a person.
Is it really helpful?
Anything only helps when you help yourself. So along with seed cycling, one needs to work on a healthy diet and lifestyle as well. There is nothing as a shortcut, but only hard work.
How-to?
To start with seed cycling, you need to be well acquainted with a few things referred as below:
- Follicular phase: The first 14 days of menstrual cycle
- Luteal phase: The following 14 days of menstrual cycle
Four seeds which are to be taken include:
- Flax seeds
- Pumpkin seeds
- Sesame seeds
- Sunflower seeds
Peel the ones needed (I’d recommend getting already-peeled ones, which makes your life much easier). You can have them raw or ground as per your preferences. Store them in separate containers with their respective names mentioned on each for your convenience. Now, it will process by using two combinations in two phases.
- First, it is follicular phase. Eat flax seeds and pumpkin seeds.
- Second, it is luteal phase. Eat sesame seeds and sunflower seeds.
You may gulp 1 tablespoon of each with water at any time of the day.
For those who have an irregular or missing period, the moon cycle will help as a general guideline. In this case, you will go as:
- Day 1-14 (new moon to full moon): Eat flax seeds and pumpkin seeds
- Day 15-28 (full moon to new moon): Eat sesame seeds and sunflower seeds

How long does it take for results?
Seed cycling is an easy and gentle way to balance hormones naturally. Therefore, it takes time to work with your body. At least; three months of regular use will start to notice the benefits.
P.S: Seed cycling is very much beneficial in healthy hormone production for all – even men. They can simply follow the moon cycle to treat their health problems in this regard.
